When Tommy Gecko and several other Cowtech employees suddenly went missing, many Terrafirmans were impacted by the loss. Perhaps one of the hardest hit was Tommy's sister Amanda. She had always been prone to depression, but Tommy had a knack for cheering her up when she was feeling down. Now that positive force is gone, and her depressions have grown longer and deeper. She's been an emotional wreck for most of the four years since her brother vanished.
These days, Mandy Gecko is a cynical, chain-smoking college student who spends much of her time moping around and listening to dark rock music.
Mandy's uncomfortable with her gecko-ness. She doesn't like being stuck with the sticky pads on her fingers and toes, and she's jealous of the hair her mammal friends have, which is why she's usually wearing a wig. On top of that, she's very self-conscious about her height, which makes her stick out like a sore thumb.
At this point, however, Mandy has just about had it with feeling sorry for herself. As pessimistic as she typically is, she believes that Tommy is still alive somewhere. She thinks she can even feel his presence sometimes. She doesn't believe Madelyn Guernsey's claim that she had nothing to do with the disappearances of her employees. And she's going to set out on her own mission to find out what happened to her brother. Or maybe she won't. It depends on how much mileage I think I can squeeze out of this subplot. I do enjoy drawing her, at any rate.
Yeah, Mandy is a pretty girl. I'm a little surprised she hasn't gotten more love from the deviantART community in general. I wonder if the cigarette is a big turn-off.
