Mortal Kombat X: PS4 or Steam?

I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan.  So much so that more often than not, my decision to buy a new console has been driven by the next Mortal Kombat game in the pipeline.  I bought my N64 in anticipation of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, I bought my PS2 for Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and now that Mortal Kombat X is on the horizon, I'll be facing that decision again in the next few months.  I've narrowed it down to this: I'm either going to buy a PS4 or get MKX on Steam.

If I get the PS4 version, I'll at least know that I'm experiencing the game as the creators intended because the hardware is standardized.  There will likely be less bugs/glitches/other issues because of that.  Also, I'm already on PSN, so I can continue to use my account.  Finally, a PS4 will be less expensive than a new computer (if necessary), and may be less expensive than upgrading my computer.

But these days, I find that I greatly prefer staying on my PC and playing games through Steam to firing up a console.  And my PC is always online, whereas it's a pain in the ass to get my PS3 online (I don't know if this is true of PS4).  But I want at least the same quality of graphics that you can get on the PS4, and I don't know if my PC (which was pretty current when I bought it in August 2011) can handle that.  There's a good chance I'll have to upgrade my PC or even buy a new one to get the graphics I want, and that could be very expensive.

Xbox One is not under consideration because I wouldn't be able to use my PSN or Steam accounts.  And I'm not buying MKX for last-gen consoles.

So, any advice on what I should do?  PS4 or PC?

For information on what the LQC project is, click here.

I will take commissions.  I don't actively solicit them, but you're welcome to note me about them.  I don't have a price list posted because it's not finalized yet, but I will get back to you with a price.  I take Paypal, checks, and money orders.

I am open to art trades.  If you want to do a trade, send me a note with your proposal and we will discuss.  As for requests, I normally only take them if I love your idea so much that I absolutely have to draw it, but for special occasions (which will be announced in my journals), I do make exceptions.

Suggestions on how I can improve my art or my characters are always welcome.

Also, please be advised that I do not RP.  I can't even figure out how a normal person is supposed to act in the real world, so forget about me playing an imaginary creature.

Other artists' drawings of my characters:

Eggplantm drew me a great picture of Turja with his character Taurus (top left) as a prize for winning a guessing game.  I liked it so much that I commissioned him to draw Austra (top center-left), Sadie (top center-right), Ambiri (top right), Turja and Lacerta together (bottom left), a whole bunch of my ladies out on the town (bottom center-left), and a poster for Austra's movie "Agent Pink" (bottom center-right).  I can't stop paying this guy to draw my characters!  :D  I also got Ming (bottom right) for entering his Zodiac fanart contest.

SabreXT was cool enough to commission Predaguy for me to draw Loopy and Turja trying to fend off a zombie attack:

I realize this post is months old, but I ran across this page from a Google search to see if MKX is available on Steam for Pre-order. So far, I can only find it on websites like Amazon with some "download code." I have to assume that wont be usable on steam?

I can completely relate to the original poster. I didn't get involved with MK until around the release of MK3 (when I was in 3rd/4th grade). This drove me to purchase an SNES, although we already had a NES which was a hand-me-down my dad got from a work friend.

MKM:SZ played the only factor in me getting my N64. MKT was thankfully released for PC.

MKDA was the catalyst of my PS2 purchase, and the disappointment that was MK8 (vsDC) caused my PS3 purchase. It wasn't until MK(2011)'s release that I felt my PS3 purchase was justified (not even getting Tekken, VirtuaFighter, or SoulCalibur). Then they did the ol' switcharoo on me.  Years later they released MK(2011) on Steam. This angered me so much that I wasted money on a PS3 and all the DLC for MK(2011)!

With the exception of SNES, all my games are always fighters. Despite my history of console ownership, I'm mostly a PC gamer.

With MKX officially confirmed for PC from the get-go, I'm all in. Modding the game was fun, and so was using the mods of other fans. Although I know I am falling right into the DLC trap by per-ordering, I think supporting NetherRealm Studios in their PC sales will only help the future of MK for PC. I've been bitching about MK on PC since MKDA, and I feel they deserve my money to keep my dream alive.

I am just worried about the poor performance that MK(2011) and Injustice had on my computer, and apparently many others. Despite the beefed up hardware, the games still lagged unless certain video settings were toned-down and/or disabled. Just yesterday I tried running Injustice again and I have yet to find a setting that doesn't result in the eventual slow-motion lag-like game play.

I am upgrading my PC for about $200 to surpass the system requirements that were listed for MK(2011) and Injustice. That surely beats $400 for a new console. An extra PC controller is just under $20.

I'll be sorely pissed off if my PC upgrades are not enough to eliminate the ridiculous lag that NRS's PC ports have been plagued with.
